Micro Funny Car (Dragster) Update

A little update on the micro funny car project!  I originally mentioned it being 1/24 scale, well that is not the case anymore.  The scale I will be working with will be 1/32.  Yes smaller and more of a challenge as far as packing all the electronics under the small body.  Hopefully I can manage that without any issues.  Next little update: The wheel's.  I have gotten the front and rear wheel's that will be used on this project in. They are rubber o-ring aluminum front's and tacky foam rear's.  I still have to polish up the front's, that can wait as they will be used for mock up purposes.

I would like to give a huge thank you to Artie (SRGN of RCTech.net) for the help and much needed support of this project.  I could say that I would not have gotten this far with this project, without him.  The "donations" as you could say from Artie has really helped get the ball rolling on this project.  Once again Artie, thank's a lot for the help and support of the Micro Funny Car (Dragster) project.  I will be sure to give as much credit as I can when it come's to this project coming together.  Hopefully you will be impressed with how this project take's shape and is done.

Will update at a later time with more picture's and image's on this project.  Check back at a later time and hopefully by then, I will have more progress for you!

1/24 RC Funny Car?

I've been having another project idea running through my head lately.  Usually when idea's run through my head I have to find or create something to put it down on paper.  Most the time I do not jump right onto the idea or the plan's.  But figured I would share what I have had on my mind lately.  Maybe someday or someday soon (maybe as I wait on part's from the secrete project?) I will start on this.  Who know's, guess time will tell and if you read my blog then the blog will show, haha.  So only the flat layout of the design.  Also, with this idea plan I would be running a Mamba micro brushless motor, slot car gearing as their gears use grub screws and would make mounting and swapping out a piece of cake.  Wheel's are a toss up, thinking maybe slot car wheels. Need to see how much I can fit under a small shell and also would be attached to the 3mm axle with a grub screw.  For the front would have a straight bar with the ends drilled which would house a 1/24 Losi micro steering knuckle and a spring above it while running a long screw through it all to allow for some suspension in the front.

Finally, if you decide to create something like this.  Please come up with your own design.  It would be cool to have a funny car class in a micro scale, would love to see what other's come up with.  But do the work and research on your own as I do and always do.  I am always willing to help, just ask and I will help as much as I can.

A little tease pic

Figured I would post a little teaser picture of the 2013 project.  Of course you probably can not tell what it could be, but that's the point isnt it.  Haha  So the wait still continue's as of now.  I may release the project photos whenever I finish the last design of which I am working on now.  Just keep changing idea's and doing this here and there and have not set my mind to one design that I really like just yet.  But expect to see the project photo's in the near future.  So stick around and check back later.

Also, if you have not "liked" the LosiMicroInfo FaceBook page yet, please do so.  The site has come along with some great information and still working on adding a bunch more.  Also always looking for feedback and idea's as to what should be on the site.

What to come for 2013!?

What would you like to see for the year of 2013?  A new Losi micro, upgrade part's, kit's, etc?  Would love to hear what you all think or your opinion's.

I know that I will have something new coming in 2013!   As far as my item being available to the public, we will have to wait and see.  If it were to happen and had a big enough fan base, I would offer a limited quantity release.  Just to allow some of you to get your hands on something "new" and have a piece of something that would eventually become rare.  Would be the same route I took with my micro buggy.  As I have been working on getting my new unseen (but by a couple) project rolling, I have made an attempt to reach out and get a couple of the item's (Calling it "item" to keep as a secret.  We all hate secretes, so I will keep you hating the one's I am telling. Haha) made, produced, done, or whatever you would like to call it.  As soon as I get some of these "item's" finished and back in my hand's, you just may get a sneak peak.  Just be sure to check back to my blog as I will be keeping it up with this project.  So stay tuned for more to come.

Enough of my talk, let's hear some of your thought's on new product's in the new year!  Wouldn't a wide track kit for the 1/24 model's be great?  How about a 1/24 4wd micro 8ight?  Let's hear what you have running through your head and hopefully we get spoiled with the goodies in 2013!

Micro's Micro's & More Micro's

As the title says, more micro's.  I recently have brought in more than a few new micro's.  One being the Micro Crawler, which I began to work on first.  I got a pretty ugly jeep body with it, which I had no intentions of using in the beginning.  But after some searches on Jeep's, I just went ahead and modded the body that I got with the crawler.  I was going for a Jeep JK-8 build, but after a comment on it's look and the body style, it looks more like the Jeep TJ-8.  So whichever work's.  See the images below on the crawler project, from how I received it, the aluminum part's I got with it to the tool box, scale jack and cooler, which is where I have left off.  I will try to update this with more picture's as I can.  Seem's I have been slacking.

The next micro's I have brought in, are 2 1/24 Losi Micro SCT's. One I will be converting to the new micro truggy.  The other I will have both option's for it, the SCT and the Rally.  I would post picture's, but I dont have any on my computer of them right now, along with the other 4 Micro T's that I am waiting on in the mail. So that make's, 7 Losi micro's that I have brought into the collection.  Who know's which way or weird idea's will run through my head.  Check back, and I will get more picture's up of the whole group and more on the crawler project.

New RC By Losi! I Want!!

Well as many of you already may know, Losi has released a new Micro RC.  The 1/24 Micro Truggy!  After of putting back project's and worry more about my family, the wait has finally come true.  I planned in my head of doing a truggy style build after the larger 1/8 scale Losi 8ight.  Good thing I never started working on my project!  So now here we stand, picture's and information for us to see, but nothing on the shelves.  So I guess we could say, I still continue to wait for a micro truggy.  Being that I have always had a passion for the Losi micro's and have to have a new RC every chance I get.  You can bet that I will be a owner of this awesome looking truck.  So stand by for picture's of my Micro Truggy when they hit the shelves and when I pick one up.  I will be more than likely going with the blue shell.  Looks pretty cool.

My Donated Vendetta Rally

Here is my Vendetta Rally that was donated to me from Dave off of the rctech forum's. With Dave's friendly donation, not only gave me one more Vendetta to the list, but also gave me the final model which I was missing out on. So once again, thanks for this sweet looking rally car. I can honestly say by the looks and comparing to the other model's that the rally is my favorite. Expect to see a build up post coming soon for this. But for now, a couple of picture's.

And the group.

Banzai Racer making it's way closer to the track!

After receiving the Vendetta SCT, it only made this Banzai racer closer to being able to run at the local indoor carpet track.  After converting some of the SCT part's over to run this Banzai setup, this is what I have come to. Still needing to order the wheel's that this will run (HPI Cup Racer), finish the painting, and finally do the decal work.  As mentioned before, this will be a "Hello Kitty" themed #5 Banzai carpet racer.  This is now running the longer wheel base SCT chassis, drive shaft and ofcourse the battery strap.  This setup has the ball differential's in the front and rear along with the carbon fiber servo hold down.  This will be running a stock brushed setup for stock class racing.  I did have to make my own rear body mount's to run this body.  I fabricated a rear mount to use the ST body mount's (picture's below).  This is also running the ST arm's all around along with the front and rear shock's and shock tower's.  Enough yack and onto more picture's of the progress that has been made and the rest of the Vendetta clan!

NOTE: The ST is now running the SCT arm's on the front and rear, along with the wheel's.  Setting this truggy low to the ground give's it a pretty sweet and unique stance.  I am thinking of keeping it this way as the look has grown on me more and just flat out looks cool!

Finally the Short Course Truck!

Finally received a Vendetta SCT!  Seemed like a long time looking for one has finally paid off.  This truck came with some goodies.  More goodies than I thought would be in it.  Sort of like opening present's on Christmas.  When I got this I tore into it to find it had the carbon fiber servo hold down, upgraded drive shaft output gears, aluminum front lower arm's, upgraded unknown green color spur gear, 3 deg toe in rear mount and after further taking it apart, I discovered a set (front and rear) of ball differential's.  A nice score and a top needed upgrade. It did come with the Tactic 2.4 Ghz receiver and the stock esc, but did not come with a motor nor a transmitter.  Who am I to complain after finding the small list of upgraded item's.  Onto a couple more picture's as this SCT did not last long before converted to the Banzai racer!

Progress On The Banzai Racer

Have made some progress on the Banzai Racer.  I have laid down a white and black 2 tone paint job.  The hood and rear still need the florescent pink racing stripes.  This shell I had to end up painting myself, which I have no experience what so ever at doing.  My painter ran into health problem's, which is more important than this body being painted.  The theme of this shell will be "Hello Kitty."  No this is not my type of paint job, this is actually my fiance's indoor racer.  She is picky and not much into RC's, so one of the way's I got her closer into the hobby was letting her pick her own ride.  She went with the Phat Bodies Banzai shell and is going to make it all "girly" lol.

For the Banzai body, you need to run a long wheel base Vendetta SCT chassis.  After what seemed like a long time of searching and looking around, finally lead to me scoring a pretty nice SCT.  Once the truck get's here I will than have more progress shots.  Another thing to remember with this shell is the body mount's.  I am running the TC mounts in the front and also the rear.  The rear are not quite long enough, so that lead me into fabricating my own mount.  Or really just raising my original mount high enough to be able to clip the body onto the chassis. The next couple of picture's show's my custom fabricated body mount.  Hope you all enjoy where I (and also my fiance) has gone with this project.  It is very close to being a runner.  Finally!

Note:  The current "mock up" wheel's in the first image are exactly that.  A mock up.  We are looking into either running white HPI wheel's which will than be dyed pink or the black chrome HPI wheel's.  We are still not 100% positive on which we are going to run.

Vendetta TC Mid Motor, 8 Cell

After wanting to equally distribute the weight of my TC, I began this project.  This project I am wanting to keep the stock chassis.  I moved the motor to the front, moved the spur gear to the middle of the drive shaft, and going to have to make my 8 cell battery pack, which will be a saddle pack, 4 cells on each side of the drive shaft.  After alot of measuring and drawing up on mspaint, I came up with what I need to do and how much room I have.  Basically using all the space available, I can get all that I want in it.  Enough talking and onto the project of where I am at and what has been done.

Cover Image, All back together.

The design image's which I did in mspaint.  Not bad for using mspaint really, lol.

Overall layout of part's.

Battery setup, wiring and layout.  Notice the 2 cells are stacked.

Drive shaft modding, had to redrill the shaft for the pin to hold the spur gear.  (undetermined on if I am going to run a stock rc18 motor mount or the motor mount that will support the bearing which is for the carbon fiber vendetta tc chassis.
Notice: I actually have 5mm extra space from my first measurements above for the battery cell's.  The image above was made without the car fully apart.

Picture's of modded stock chassis, Cleaned and shaved down to level it out so everything sits flat and not at angles from the embossed area's which came stock, such as the area's under the stock battery location.

Which now lead's to the ending point of how far I have gone.  Still waiting on the motor and esc to show up.  Once mounted along with whichever motor mount I decide to use, I will place my order for my battery cell's and get them done up and placed into the car.  Than finally I will have to make a top deck, or just 2 battery hold down's.  Wanted to start off the new year with a project, and this is what I had envisioned when I picked this TC up.  Still having thoughts on doing this setup with an aluminum or carbon fiber chassis for the long wheelbase Banzai body, which I have coming in the mail.  Hope you all enjoy, be sure to share my blog, join my blog and check back with my blog.  Happy New Year's, lets make this one a great year!
